How to Create Custom Fields for Titles, Series, and Characters in Organized Authors

At Organized Authors, we understand that every author has unique needs and preferences when it comes to book, series, and character details. That's why we offer the flexibility to create custom fields, allowing you to store any kind of information you desire for your creative works. In this guide, we'll walk you through the simple steps to create and manage custom fields for your books, series, and characters.


Step 1: Accessing Custom Field Settings


  • Click on your author profile located at the bottom left corner of the app window.
  • Select "Settings" from the options provided.
  • Navigate to "Custom Fields" and click on it.

Step 2: Creating Custom Fields


  • To create a new custom field, click on the "Create" button.
  • In the window that appears, choose the item type for your custom field: Book, Series, or Character.
  • Give your custom field a descriptive name.
  • Select the appropriate field type from the following options: Checkbox, Color, Date, Date Range, Lists, Links, Number, Select, Text, Text Area
  • Optionally, mark the field as "Featured" to have it appear before other fields in on title, series and character pages.
  • Decide if you want the field to be shown in the detailed list view.
  • Once you have configured your field settings, click on "Create."

Step 3: Managing Custom Fields


  • After creating custom fields, you can access them from the custom field list, categorized under the corresponding item (Title, Series, or Character).
  • To reorder the custom fields based on their importance, simply click and drag them to the desired position.

Step 4: Using Custom Fields


  • Once you've created custom fields, they will be available when you create or edit Titles, Series, or Characters.
  • The information you store in these custom fields will be accessible on the corresponding Title, Series, or Character pages.
  • If you selected a field to be included in the detailed list view, you can access it from your Titles page by clicking the "View Detailed List" button.
